Purpose-driven governance
for what comes next.
I help nonprofits strengthen governance and make clear, mission-aligned decisions
about strategy, leadership transitions, collaborations, mergers,
and other consequential choices.

About
I’m Kim Andrews, a nonprofit governance
and strategy consultant with more than 25 years of experience as an executive director and board leader. I understand the pressures on a small staff, the responsibilities of a volunteer board, and how much can rest on a few committed people.
I help boards and executive leaders work through consequential choices—from governance and strategic priorities to leadership transitions, collaborations, and mergers. Together, we consider the organization’s purpose, whose perspectives are needed, and what its people and resources can realistically support.
My experience spans public gardens, historic sites, arts and culture, philanthropy, community organizations, and international exchange.
I hold a Certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource.
I work out of the Philadelphia area and Western Massachusetts, serving clients nationally and internationally through in-person, virtual, and blended engagements.

Services
Governance & Board Development
Build a board that can govern—not merely meet. Clarify roles, strengthen the board–executive partnership, and improve how your board makes decisions through assessment, training, and facilitated conversations.
Strategic Planning
Turn purpose into focused choices and a practical path forward. Set priorities grounded in community needs, available capacity, and clear responsibility for implementation.
Leadership Transitions
Prepare the organization, not only the search. Plan for succession, transfer essential knowledge, and give incoming leaders the board partnership and support they need.
Strategic Options
Examine realistic choices about your organization’s future. Explore changes in programs, staffing, structure, affiliation, or fiscal sponsorship with your mission and the people affected at the center.
Collaborations & Mergers
Consider what working together could make possible. Assess readiness, explore potential partnerships, and clarify governance, responsibilities, and the steps needed to move forward.
Interim Leadership
Maintain direction and build readiness during a leadership change. Address immediate needs, support board and staff, and prepare the organization for permanent leadership.
Purpose to Progress
The Kimtentional approach: Purpose → People → Priorities → Progress
Purpose: Clarify why your organization exists, whom it serves, and the difference it seeks to make.
People: Bring together the knowledge and perspectives of the people doing the work and the communities it serves.
Priorities: Focus on what matters most, with an honest understanding of your resources and capacity.
Progress: Turn priorities into action, with clear responsibilities, milestones, and time to learn and adjust.
